Honey Bee Festival!

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to tell you about the Honey Bee Festival that took place this past weekend!

This event took place at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds. It started at 10am my husband and I arrived a little after 10am. I was happy that parking was good no hassle there. I also like the fact that if you didn’t have the $5.00 for parking (no cards were taken) that they trusted you to do the right thing and just go in and pay!

When we arrived they had a lot of bee boxes out in the field not real sure tho if any bees were in them or not. This event was very informative! They had some things the kids could get into a couple of chickens, and some nice bee inspired treats!

Inside the venue there was face painting for the kids and vendors of all sorts selling candles, treats, treats for your pet, cocktails, purses, and kitchen ware, soaps and they also had some hot food you could buy. Most honey or Bee inspired! They even had a little mini market where you could buy not so easy to find items.

I brought aged Black Garlic from the market. Love it!

I also brought a hand crafted Hibiscus Lemon simple syrup. On the back of each of her hand crafted creations is a recipe for a cocktail!  not to mention you can level up your tea game with these mixers! Check her out at camleecrafted.com

Over all this event was ok. The venue was not that big for the crowd. If you didn’t get there early you didn’t really have a chance to talk with the vendor about his or her product, because it was crowed you didn’t want to wait in line, sometimes I didn’t know where the lines started, and you couldn’t really taste anything that was offered due to the crowd. Again, I was glad we arrived early!

Lastly, throughout the day they had different talk from subjects that range from mead making, African Bees, how to cook with honey just to name a few!

The only thing I was a bit disappointed with was I thought we would see some real bees or some sort of demo with the bees! Now I understand that with bees come stings but I was hoping!  Also, the space was not that big and nothing much was going on. It was not an event that would hold you all day unless you wanted to just hang out and chill on the lawn at the fairground with family and try one of the three food trucks that were out.

Here are a few pics from the event. I hope next time the venue will be more spread out! And my pics better I need a go pro. So I can stop all this typing and just put my voice upon any and all places I attend! That is coming soon!
